Sydney Sehr Abstract: The Art of Design

This image is of the photographer, Platon, after getting jumped by a guy in England. Platon is a foreigner to England, but was often referred to as a “bloody” foreigner. He then talks about how he was confused about him being jumped, exclaiming “why me” and a woman overhearing said “why not you.” This image brought me close to my emotions because first I felt awful seeing him all beat up, and the story behind it too is saddening as well. He now says he knows what it is to hurt after experiencing this, and that gave him empathy which is vitally important in life.

Seeing Platon all bruised and beat up made me feel bad for him. This picture being the aftermath of him understanding what it means to be hurt, leading to his empathy is what really made me feel emotional. I have not experienced this physical harm that Platon has, but I have been hurt times before, and I believe that is what made me so emotional, and able to empathize with this image.

My Image:

In this image, I believe I look connected to the world because I am looking out into the city of Boston. You can see around me that people walking in the background, there are buildings with lights on where many people live, and more. In a city, it is populated with a lot of people, and very lively as there is a lot going on. Therefore, in this picture in the city, I am connected to the world.
