Sehr Calligramme

 Final Caligramme:

My Letter To My Future Self:

Dear Future Sydney Sehr, I hope you’re doing well! I am writing this letter to you for your digital media class, how was it? I know that this class was a requirement but I hope you learned a lot from it and are able to use it in the future for jobs, or anything else? How did college go for you? We majored in psychology, and were wondering whether we wanted to focus more on developmental psychology or forensic psychology. Which did we end up choosing, or did we not choose either? Speaking of psychology, did you get any jobs that you are really interested in? Did you go more of a therapist route or a research route? Did you ever end up studying abroad, I know how badly you wanted to go to Italy or Greece. Also at school we were a founding member in the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, so cool and I really hope that helped you out for your future opportunities and jobs. Did you end up having any leadership opportunities within the sorority, like a president or vice president position? How about your friendships? Have you stayed close with the ones from home, and also how is your friend's situation with your college friends, do you still keep in touch with them? Then you graduated, congratulations! I know that after college you have always dreamed of living somewhere warm, hence why you went to The University of Tampa in the first place, but I also know how much you love your home town, Boston, Massachusetts. So which one did you end up picking? I hope you are healthy and living happily with a husband and kids in whichever place you ended up choosing. I am so proud of you for how far you have come and I cannot wait to hear and see what you have accomplished.

Artist Statement:

This piece of art is an image that represents what it is made up of, a letter to my future self. I wrote about my major in psychology and that is represented by the brain. I created this image to represent that me writing to my future self is working towards that psychology degree that future me has. The inspiration of my art is that Psychology is the study of the mind, and the staircase represents me working towards it. Using the pen tools to create my brain and staircase really helped me represent my writing, which I then put along the shape with the text on a line tool.

This Art is visually representing my letter to my future self. My future self will have a degree in psychology, and a job in that field too, which is why I drew the brain. Although, without me going to school now for psychology, that would not be possible. Therefore, I drew the staircase to represent how me who is currently writing the letter is working up to that goal. without these two images together, I do not think my writing would be represented accurately.
